- Get involved! Come to meetings and workshops. ...Come even
if you do think that the subject is not interesting to you. You
will meet with other photographers, people to share ideas with,
learn with and from.
- Dinner meetings or workshops are held every month. There is
a charge for the dinner, but if you wish, you can come after
dinner and attend the meeting only. Workshops are varied on
topics and are held at Studios of photographers and other places
as announced. Members usually attend these workshops at no
charge but from time to time a small fee may be charged to
cover materials and expenses.
- Each Branch has social functions to attend. For example, the
Northern Branch yearly has a Picnic, a Christmas Party and a
Golf Tournament. This is a great way to get to know your
colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere.
- Get involved in committees; call Bev Scade at 780.483.4275 for info
to find out how. Committee work and phoning will earn you
service merits toward CPA and MPA awards. Some committees
are:
• The Phoning Committee
• Convention Committees
• Special Events
• Print Show at convention
• Public Awareness committee
• Various other committees that form
- Use the library, it has fabulous tapes and DVDs for learning, and
good rates for rental. Call your branch’s Library representative
for info on the library (call Bev to find out who the representative
is in your area). Tapes available in our library are not available
for rent anywhere else.
- Remember, most of our members are open to share price lists,
techniques, ideas for locations, and will share ideas on what
doesn’t work. One of the main objectives of our association is
to promote professional photography to the community at large,
and specifically PPOC and PPOC-Alberta member photographers.
